December 1, 2019 was a historic moment for Indian Navy as well as Shivangi, whose childhood dream was fulfilled when she joined as Indian Navy’s first women pilot. Sub lieutenant Shivangi got her wings on Monday and joined naval operations. She will be flying Dornier surveillance aircraft for maritime reconnaissance, search and rescue operations for the Indian Navy.
Shivangi hails from Fatehabad, district Muzaffurpur in Bihar. She comes from an ordinary farmer’s family. Her father Bhushan Singh is a principal in government school and her mother Priyanka is a house-wife. She was inducted into the Indian Navy as SSC (Pilot) as part of 27 NOC course in Indian Naval Academy, Ezhimala and got formally commissioned by Vice Admiral AK Chawla, in June last year.
